Week #93....EJPS Unforgettable Missionary Moments #8

Hello,

This week has been great and we are working hard. We have been super tired these last few weeks, but being tired isn’t the worst thing that could happen.

#8 EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment

DAY 1
I remember my first full day in the mission like it was yesterday. I remember leaving the Guatemala MTC at 2 am and going to transfers. While on the bus the secretaries of the mission had us practice contacting on the bus. So one by one we got up and shouted all 10 words I knew. I said Jesus Christ lives and loves you and sat down because that’s all I knew how to say haha. Any way we got to transfers and I meet my companion. Elder huaman. Coming in at 5 feet tall all the way from the Peruvian jungle. We then proceed to our area in Jocotillo, it was a 3 hour bus ride from the mission home. I had my backpack and two large overly packed bags. (Looking back on it I didn’t use half of the stuff that I came here with.) We went to the "bus stop" I put the quotes because buses here don’t stop. And I threw my bags on top got on the bus and started to contact, and preceded to say Jesus’s Christ loves and lives you. Not a great start but hey it got a laugh out of the people. When we got to Jocotillo it was raining. My companion and I were soaked and so were my bags! We dropped my bags off and went to do what I came here for. Teach repentance and baptize converts. As we left I remember I said probably the most potent prayer ever. It went something like this; Father, I Love you, please help me. Amen haha!... but really that started the longest day of my life. As we talked to people I understood nothing. Just knew that they were laughing at me. One of my first visits I used charades to ask questions. That day changed my life. Wet, Confused and frankly lost, but I knew that I, Jake Peacock had been called by a prophet of the Lord to come and serve in this beautiful country and that was good enough for me!

I love you all!

Week #92.....EJSP Unforgettable Missionary moments - #9

Hey Friends,

Shout out to the Aaronic priesthood turning the big 189 years of being restored to the earth!! I am grateful for you big guy!! Hope you have a good day; you deserve it!!

The #9 EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moments has to deal with said Birthday boy!!!

One sundae was very special. It was very simple and to some might seem like nothing out of the ordinary, but to me it was very special –

To start, we had a confirmation of an investigator who was baptized the previous Sunday. One of my recent convers who was ordained to the Aaronic priesthood and the office of a priest blessed the sacrament. Another convert passed the sacrament to his grandmother and siblings who later that day entered into the waters of baptism and finally another convert received the Aaronic priesthood. This day was so special, for them, for me, and for our Heavenly Father. I felt so much joy for them in this moment. I cannot imagine how much JOY our Father in Heaven felt.
WHAT A DAY!!

Hey also thanks for all of the birthday wishes you all are cool!!

Week #91....EJSP top 10 Unforgettable Missionary Moments - #10

EJSP(Elder Jake Scot Peacock) Top 10 Unforgettable Missionary Moments

Number 10, Earthquakes and DOUBLE DRAGONS

I was sick to my stomach one night at about 9:13pm. When we approached the house my companion realized that he had forgotten the keys. So we proceeded to go though the window. (About a 10 inch wide opening and I (not the smallest dude ever) get lifted up by non athletic 300+ pound Mexican companion. Anyways after a few moments of pain, not sure weather due to the stomachache or the broken glass my stomach rubbed on to get thought the window. I got though and opened the door and then proceeded to throw up and have a great case of champion diarrhea. You heard it folks A DOUBLE DRAGON. To make this historical night even better he earthquake hits right at the same time; Almost divinely. Let me tell you that bathroom got dirty folks. Boy oh boy I am pumped that my dedication to chores back at home had me prepared to execute the cleaning of this top 10!!!!

PS We baptized Nelly Barrientos.

Love you all!!!!

Week #90 .....We need to be worthy of his presence!

Hey

This week was great we are working super and we are seeing fruits of our labor. We will be baptizing here shortly. These last few days have been the so much fun! Haha! There is one member whose nickname is Shrek and he looks just like him LOL! Anyways things are going great here and we are enjoying our last 11 weeks here in La Tierra de la Eterna primavera.

Spiritual thought!!
No men can preach the gospel without the spirit. The spirit is really the only teacher of the gospel. We are just his mouthpiece, therefore we need to be worthy of his presence!!!

Now, a sneak peak at the next weeks of letters.
