Hey Guys!!
This week was awesome:
We are working with an awesome lady named aura that I told you a
little about last week. She is progressing great and with be married to her
husband tomorrow and will be baptized on Sunday. This lady has great faith and
it has been an awesome thing for me to see somebody who has so many struggles
to overcome them and be a follow of Christ. Also yesterday we went and climbed
volcano pacaya. It’s a sweet volcano that is active and we hiked it. Its so
pretty it looks like some other planet. A bunch of lava rocks and petrified
lava. It was awesome. Elder Davis and I received some not so good news after we
got home from pacaya. There was no water and will be no water for 8 to 15 days.
So I’m on day 2.5 without showering. we smell awesome hahahaha but look at
these pictures. They don’t do it justice but they are cool.
Spiritual thought. I have been thinking a lot lately about
Christ, who he is and what he does. Then I read a talk that caught my
attention, The Character of Christ, by Elder Bednar. In this talk, elder Bednar
shares some scriptural insight that shows the Character of Christ. In Matthew
4, it talks about Jesus´epic 40 day fast and we learn about how the devil
tempted him, even the Son of God. I just think, wow. I know how destroyed I
feel physically after a one day fast here in the Guatemalan heat. Just imagine
Jesus after 40 days. He must have been tired and hungry, more than any hunger
or tiredness that we have ever experienced. In verses 11 and 12. We learn that
Angels went to Jesus to comfort him, but if we read in the JST in the footnotes
we learn about his character. It says that when the angles came to him, he knew
that john his friend was in prison, and he sent those very angles to comfort
john in prison. Wow. Jesus had just done one that most extraordinary physical
acts of all time, and he sent the angels that we there to comfort and help him,
to his friend who was in lesser need. JESUS ALWAYS REACHES OUT, EVEN WHEN IT
WOULD BE EASIER TO LOOK IN AND TURN AWAY!!! I know Jesus Christ lives and love’s
us and will always be here to help us in our times of lesser need. In the name
of Jesus Christ Amen.
