Week #100 ....Elder Jake Scot Peacock Unforgettable Missionary Moment #1

The Good Fight -

Elder Peacock last Unforgettable Missionary Moment!

Well, the time has come; my full time missionary service is coming to an end!
These last two years have been the best days of my life.
I’ve been tested and tried, pushed and encouraged, but through the thick and thin I have bettered myself. Better said, the atonement of Christ has made me whole, pure, and HAPPY!
I really have no words to describe how happy I am. I have taught people the things I know and the have came to know them as well.

I love Guatemala and the people, my heart is and will always be with the CHAPINES.

I am excited to see all of my family and friends, but sad that I will not see my Guatemalan family and friends for a while.

GOD LIVES, JESUS CHRIST IS HIS SON. AND THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS IS THE ONLY TRUE AND LIVING CHURCH!

Signing out with love,

Elder Jake Scot Peacock

Week #99....EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #2

We Be in a TRIO!!!

Haha Elder Hernandez is the newest member of the best companionship this side of the Veil. (Because obviously The God head has got us beat).

A drunken guy gave me a nice shove onto the curb this week and the picture doesn’t show but its black and blue baby, heck yeah got to love drunks.

EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #2

Wow second to last time writing is weird.

Miracles and more miracles

I have seen countless miracles, for healing of the sick and afflicted to seeing the miracle of conversion. The uniting of eternal families, and the uniting with companions to help these chosen souls find the path to eternal life. The mission is a miracle. Its a miracle that I am able to even be a small part in Gods perfect and eternal plan! I know that he lives and loves us and his goal is that we can be an ETERNAL part of his ETERNAL plan. Not just a temporary two years. Rather these two years prepare us for eternity!!

Love you all

EJSP Top 10 Unforgettable Missionary Moments Number 3

BUGS. ANIMALS AND GROSS STUFF

I have seen more crawling things in two years on the mission than I saw in 18 years at home. To list a few, coach roaches, spiders, metallic beetles, scorpions, possums, mice, rats, iguanas, lizards, giant flies, double headed mosquitos, and a bunch of other nasty dead stuff too like cats dogs horses cows birds.
I am glad that I wont have to deal with scorpions under my pillow anymore LOL. Or eat fried possum, or iguana soup or eggs. All that stuff is stuff I’m not going to forget. I will miss that beautiful nature here; it is so green and lush. I have also loved bring around the ocean and volcano’s

Also the pictures are of some wonder food and my comp and I with matching ties.

Love you,

Elder Peacock

Week #97 ........EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #4

World cup makes mission life hard.... but wow people here like them some soccer.

Since Father’s day was on Sunday, it got me thinking of father figures. Obviously my dad, but grandpa’s uncles and friends too have been great role models for me…but the most important has and will forever be God the ETERNAL FATHER!

That brings me to my #4 EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment

I have felt closer to my Heavenly Father here on the mission than I ever have before. And I long to be ever closer to him. He has guided me and directed me and I am so grateful for his love.

This really should have been number one but it can be number four too!!

I love you all,

Elder Peacock

PS I think that France is going to take the cup!

Week # 96....EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #5

Hey everyone!!!! This week was great we had the baptism of Julio de Leon and it was sweet! It also rained super hard this week!!
EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #5

Companions.
On my mission i have had a few companions en the MTC I had Ostrander (Tennessee) and Horning (Utah,) then in the field Huaman (Peru) Ballesteros (Honduras) Sorto (El Salvador) Lares (Peru) Vivas (Honduras) Martinez (Honduras) Santos (Mexico) Rosas (Mexico) Conde (Peru) Davis (Virginia) Jacob (Utah) Miles (Utah).

All of my companions have been super different, from different parts of the world, and I have learned from each of them!! I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to be with them and working for the salvation of the Lords sheep!

Week #95 ......EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #6

I am all good people thanks for all the emails regarding my safety, but I am all good.

It was a sad week here in Guatemala, the biggest and strongest eruption in a long time. Death count is 100 and counting a bunch of people are missing and a lot of people lost all of there possessions.

I am grateful to have the knowledge of the plan of salvation. Everything that doesn’t seem fair or just in this life will be made right through the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This EJSP is defiantly natural disasters and storms. I lived in Antigua, the most famous place in Guatemala because of the beautiful views of the volcanoes. I was just recently in Escuintla where the most damage happened, and where 50ish missionaries are currently evacuated. I have seen that volcano go off probably 100 times I kid you not, but these are signs of the times folks. I didn’t get pictures of the volcanoes eruption, one because I was in church and didn’t have my camera, and two I couldn’t see the volcano just the ash and sand that fell here. As for the weather, yesterday I got soaked. My shoes are still wet and it continues to rain here in VN. I love Guatemala, but the weather is unpredictable, and we have seen that over the course of the last few days!!!

I Love You All!

Week #94 ....EJSP Unforgettable Moment #7

Hello,

This is my last week before my last transfer in my mission, although I know that I am staying in the same area, it is bitter sweet. I had a great week, and played a little monopoly on P-day with my companions since it rained all day.

EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment #7

DIVISIONS.

Divisions are some of my most favorite memories on the mission. You get to pair up with someone in your zone, get to know a new area and just work like crazy. Some of the craziest and most miracles like things happen on divisions. One time we were on the top of a mountain teaching a family and it started pouring so we slipped like a hundred times on the way down and got super muddy. Another time we dug a water-well. Mostly we offer/give blessings… blessings and more blessings! One division we felt impressed to knock on three doors on a specific street. First and second door there were not answers, but the third house we found some of my favorite converts. Divisions bring miracles because we have already decided to be at our best during divisions. I will miss getting to know a bunch of missionaries and doing the Lords work in divisions

Week #93....EJPS Unforgettable Missionary Moments #8

Hello,

This week has been great and we are working hard. We have been super tired these last few weeks, but being tired isn’t the worst thing that could happen.

#8 EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moment

DAY 1
I remember my first full day in the mission like it was yesterday. I remember leaving the Guatemala MTC at 2 am and going to transfers. While on the bus the secretaries of the mission had us practice contacting on the bus. So one by one we got up and shouted all 10 words I knew. I said Jesus Christ lives and loves you and sat down because that’s all I knew how to say haha. Any way we got to transfers and I meet my companion. Elder huaman. Coming in at 5 feet tall all the way from the Peruvian jungle. We then proceed to our area in Jocotillo, it was a 3 hour bus ride from the mission home. I had my backpack and two large overly packed bags. (Looking back on it I didn’t use half of the stuff that I came here with.) We went to the "bus stop" I put the quotes because buses here don’t stop. And I threw my bags on top got on the bus and started to contact, and preceded to say Jesus’s Christ loves and lives you. Not a great start but hey it got a laugh out of the people. When we got to Jocotillo it was raining. My companion and I were soaked and so were my bags! We dropped my bags off and went to do what I came here for. Teach repentance and baptize converts. As we left I remember I said probably the most potent prayer ever. It went something like this; Father, I Love you, please help me. Amen haha!... but really that started the longest day of my life. As we talked to people I understood nothing. Just knew that they were laughing at me. One of my first visits I used charades to ask questions. That day changed my life. Wet, Confused and frankly lost, but I knew that I, Jake Peacock had been called by a prophet of the Lord to come and serve in this beautiful country and that was good enough for me!

I love you all!

Week #92.....EJSP Unforgettable Missionary moments - #9

Hey Friends,

Shout out to the Aaronic priesthood turning the big 189 years of being restored to the earth!! I am grateful for you big guy!! Hope you have a good day; you deserve it!!

The #9 EJSP Unforgettable Missionary Moments has to deal with said Birthday boy!!!

One sundae was very special. It was very simple and to some might seem like nothing out of the ordinary, but to me it was very special –

To start, we had a confirmation of an investigator who was baptized the previous Sunday. One of my recent convers who was ordained to the Aaronic priesthood and the office of a priest blessed the sacrament. Another convert passed the sacrament to his grandmother and siblings who later that day entered into the waters of baptism and finally another convert received the Aaronic priesthood. This day was so special, for them, for me, and for our Heavenly Father. I felt so much joy for them in this moment. I cannot imagine how much JOY our Father in Heaven felt.
WHAT A DAY!!

Elder Peacock

Hey also thanks for all of the birthday wishes you all are cool!!

Week #91....EJSP top 10 Unforgettable Missionary Moments - #10

EJSP(Elder Jake Scot Peacock) Top 10 Unforgettable Missionary Moments

Number 10, Earthquakes and DOUBLE DRAGONS

I was sick to my stomach one night at about 9:13pm. When we approached the house my companion realized that he had forgotten the keys. So we proceeded to go though the window. (About a 10 inch wide opening and I (not the smallest dude ever) get lifted up by non athletic 300+ pound Mexican companion. Anyways after a few moments of pain, not sure weather due to the stomachache or the broken glass my stomach rubbed on to get thought the window. I got though and opened the door and then proceeded to throw up and have a great case of champion diarrhea. You heard it folks A DOUBLE DRAGON. To make this historical night even better he earthquake hits right at the same time; Almost divinely. Let me tell you that bathroom got dirty folks. Boy oh boy I am pumped that my dedication to chores back at home had me prepared to execute the cleaning of this top 10!!!!

PS We baptized Nelly Barrientos.

Love you all!!!!

Week #90 .....We need to be worthy of his presence!

Hey

This week was great we are working super and we are seeing fruits of our labor. We will be baptizing here shortly. These last few days have been the so much fun! Haha! There is one member whose nickname is Shrek and he looks just like him LOL! Anyways things are going great here and we are enjoying our last 11 weeks here in La Tierra de la Eterna primavera.

Spiritual thought!!
No men can preach the gospel without the spirit. The spirit is really the only teacher of the gospel. We are just his mouthpiece, therefore we need to be worthy of his presence!!!

Now, a sneak peak at the next weeks of letters.

Week #88 ....Ask people if they need help!

Hey people!

This week was fun like always. We found a little girl named mayli pronounced miley and she is 8 and is a granddaughter of some members. She is super awesome and taught us the first vision. She is super smart and will be getting baptized on Sunday!! Also this will most likely be my last week here in Golondrinas as a zone leader. This past year or so being a zone leader has taught me a ton! We will see what changes have in store for me!!

Funny story! This week there was a crazy dude on his roof hitting some brick with a machete. haha He was trying to hit the bricks just right so that he could place them in a weird looking star shape on his roof and we walk by and started talking to him and all he said was are you guys going to help me or not?? We said yeah and he said well then come up here. And haha I have no idea how this guy got up there. There were no trees or ladders or windows or nothing he just scaled the side apparently. and then he started yelling at us that we needed to help him haha. So we tried to climb up on the roof to help this guy and I found some brick so I went over and tried pulling myself up I pulled a bunch of the brick down. haha they were not cemented on haha and I fell and the whole street laughed lol. That’s all
Moral of the story you gotta ask people if they need help.

Love you all

Week #87.....Rain Rain Rain

Hey!

This week it rained a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it’s all good. We baptized Jamie and it was sweet!!! We have been super tired this whole week; it’s been a crazy one. I was making some eggs and out popped two yolks. We are on a 48-egg streak of two yolks. I don’t know what’s happening to these chickens down here…. LOL. I went to Antigua on my P-Day, and visited a convert maybe for the last time….it was fun. I took pictures of some paintings that they have here. Transfers are in a couple of weeks and there is word that I might go back to the first zone I was in when I started the Mission, Jocotillo. It’s in the mountains but located in a capital zone. I love the mountain zones but this place is literally an hour and a half from any other missionaries and food, this is a ROUGH place, but I guess if they send me back its for something that the Lord needs my help with.

Spiritual Thought - We all have something that limits our excellence in the gospel. We need to find out what that is, and make it better so that we may thrive,

Love you guys

Week #86.....LDS Conference

LDS CONFERENCE -

I don’t have words to describe what I felt as we sustained President Nelson in solemn assembly. Wow just wow!

I loved conference it was awesome we sat and watched it in English ha-ha I love English. I loved the focus that they gave on the spirit and serving others. Also on repentance and forgiveness. What an amazing message.

This week was crazy there was nobody at home or in the street? Everyone went to the beach and we struggled to find people to teach. But everyone is back now.

A regular one hour long bus ride to do interviews in Puerto San Jose took us 4 hours do to traffic. And the area is right on the beach so it was PACKED!!!

Shout out to Elder Echohawk and elder Massimo De Feo with the best names in the conference. And also to Elder Lynn G Robbins (or robinson, the names always go by too fast to write them down.) I loved how he said that forgiveness has no limit. 7x 7 = infinity (if we have sincere desires)

I love you all

Week #85....Happy Easter ...#becauseofhim

Hey !!

This week was great. This week we will start Semana Santa. (Holy Week) so pretty much that means that everyone goes to the beach and there is nobody to talk to. This is defiantly the hardest week to be a missionary in Guatemala. Literally there will be nobody in the street or at home. Wish us luck. But we sure are excited for the general conference. It will be great!!! This week we found a cool and interesting investigator. His name is Roberto, he is 10, and his mom is a less active member. He is deaf and he knows very little sign language. So we have been using the charade game hahaha. We kind of just use pictures and act stuff out. His mom communicates with him just by pointing to stuff and he then says yes or no. But when we try with gospel stuff he literally says nothing.... we are going to need to think of a better way to teach him lol Below are some pictures of how cashews grow. Yes that’s on a fruit. (Gross by the Way) and me with my tennis shoes. …They are holey and then me with some fellow gringos.

Spiritual thought. The Language of the gospel is the spirit. Not English or Spanish or sign language, but the spirit.

I love you all. Happy Easter.

Christ LIVES
